Project Details
The brief for The Tree House was clear from the outset – to ensure the house owner was lost amongst the outstanding woodland plot with every view from the living accommodation forming part of the canopy of ancient trees. The dwelling will be seen as an object within this existing landscape and the occupants will become the custodians of this special site. This home will showcase how modern architecture can form a successful intervention in a unique landscape setting.
This home will sit respectfully within its surroundings, whilst providing a complimentary and exciting new addition to the existing landscape. It was decided early in the design stage that any new dwelling should not compete with the immediate surrounding building typology in terms of materials and appearance but should, instead, appear more sympathetic to the unique landscape setting, being part of the landscape; utilising quality natural finishes that compliment the surrounding environment and in doing so seek to maintain the visual identity of site.
